Tech Tour announces the top 41 high growth potential cleantech companies in Europe, chosen by a selection committee of active cleantech investors and industry experts, who will present at the Tech Tour 2017 Cleantech Summit in Rotterdam on the 22-23 of November, 2017.

Over 200 companies applied with the majority coming from the Netherlands (35%) followed by Germany (14%) and the United Kingdom (9%). Out of these 41 were selected to present, of which 54% (22) are from the Netherlands, 15% (6) from Germany and 7% (3) from Italy and the remaining 24% are from Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Slovenia, Spain and the United Kingdom. The whole list represents cleantech companies from 11 European countries. The sectors represented include energy transition (37%), circular economy (27%), smart cities and mobility (24%) and maritime and offshore (12%).

The 2017 edition is being headed by Fred van Beuningen Director at Clean Tech Delta and Robert Gallenberger, Venture Partner at btov Partners who act as President and Vice-President of the Selection Committee. Fred van Beuningen explains the distribution of cleantech companies this year by noting that “Rotterdam is strategically located and is for that reason often referred to as “a gateway to Europe” with its well-developed port infrastructure, multi modal accessibility and considerable volume of goods and passengers. Both the nearby city Delft and Rotterdam are home to world class technical and business universities.  Rotterdam historically developed its port-industrial complex with traditional port related activities. Since then, international services and international companies (head offices) have been pulled towards the city, thereby expanding the cluster.
